Stream Life Groups

Sunday mornings are a time for the entire family of Desert Stream to come together and give praise to the Lord and receive relevant instruction from God’s Word. “Life groups” [on the other hand] are small groups, which augment that ministry with a greater sense of community.

Stream Life Groups are scheduled at different times through the week. Some groups are hosted at the church, others are at people’s homes through out the local region. There are life groups for the whole family as well as groups specifically for: men and women, young and old. All life groups have a variety of topics and styles.

Stream Life groups are a vital part of the ongoing ministry of Desert Stream because they provide a safe place of instruction, accountability and friendship so you can grow in your Christian walk.

Alpha and Life Worth Living Courses

Desert Stream has been running the Alpha course since 2001. And in that time we have seen countless people brought to faith in Jesus as well as many brought back to a vibrant walk with the Lord. Graduates of the Alpha course at Desert Stream have moved on to be very active members of this congregation, being used with the gifts that God has given them.

The Alpha and Life Worth Living (LW) courses begin with a full dinner and then feature videos that run simultaneously. It is a casual evening that breaks into small groups after the videos have been shown. These courses are held on Tuesday evenings beginning at 6:30 and run typically until about 9:00 pm.

The ten-week Alpha course is a topical study of introduction to the Christian faith; where as the nine-week LW is a chapter-by-chapter study on the Book of Philippians in the New Testament. Both include a “Holy Spirit” weekend at a local retreat centre.

Desert Stream is the regional resource church for Alpha Canada and runs three courses per year in the fall, winter and spring. For more information on the Alpha course itself, you can go directly to their website atwww.alphacanada.org

The Blessings Seminar

1st introduced in 2005, the Blessings seminar is designed to help people find their “identity and destiny” in Christ. Taught by Rev. Terry Bone, it is facilitated by DVD, similar to the Alpha course. It runs either as an intense weekend encounter or as a DVD course divided into 14 sessions. Many have found deliverance and healing from life’s hurts through this course. It is offered annually and is run by trained facilitators at Desert Stream Christian Fellowship.
